We've been suffering through some hot weather as of late.  Well, hot weather for our neck of the woods. When we were up in SmallTown, these hot days were the norm, so it was no big deal.  And it was really no big deal--because we had central AC in our apartment.

Now that we are back in Hometown, our humble little house doesn't have central AC.  (Oh, and for the record, these high ninety degree days really only last for a handful of days each summer, so the central AC isn't really a necessity.  However.)  Our Little Guy?  Not caring for these hot temps.

At all.

Especially since he prefers to be carried/walked/bounced about 85 % of the time.  But then with all that body heat, he gets hot.  And because he gets hot, he gets fussy.  But he wants to be carried/walked/bounced.  And so the cycle goes...

Speaking of the Little Guy, he hates his battery operated swing.  Hates is a strong word, I know.  But I don't think that really does it justice.  Our Peanut?  She hated the swing too.  Which is funny, because they both like(d) constant movement.  So we have this brand new 4 year old swing.  Hopefully we can recoup some of that investment on craigslist, otherwise it will have been the biggest waste of $100.

But for someone who HATES his battery operated swing, yeah, he absolutely loves the outdoor swing.  Both times I put him in it?  Crashed within a matter of minutes.

With all our hot weather "we've" been spending a lot of time swimming.  At least the Peanut and Hubs have.

Oh, and our little girl must have the strongest little leg muscles this side of the Mississippi.  My Mom got her this cool water wings/life jacket thing she found at Costco (where else, right?).  It keeps the Peanut nice and afloat and she has learned to kick, kick, kick to maneuver her little self all over my parents pool.  I know she is getting quite the workout, because she is essentially "treading water" with her bottom half.  And she swims for probably an hour at a time.  And that's in between driving her car at Grandma's and Grandpa's and playing with Jet at Grandma's and Grandpa's and whatever other mischief she can find when we are at Grandma's and Grandpa's.  And somehow she still has buckets of energy to swim.  It's kinda crazy.

As for the pool, I've gotten in once.  And the Little Brother?  He's been in twice.  Both times he wasn't too sure of it when he first got in--but then he relaxed after getting acclimated and thought, "Hey, this might not be so bad."  {Or at least that's what I imagined he would have said.}

My Mom and Dad also took our Peanut on her maiden voyage to the county fair.  She got to eat greasy hamburgers (at my mother's insistence that they have dinner there), ride rides, see the animals, and have a milkshake (from the dairy women--they are amazing!) at the end of the night.

The verdict?  She loved it.

But what's not to love when you have Grandma and Grandpa all to yourself?  She could have played in the dirt all evening with them and been just as thrilled.

(Oh, and Mom?  That's a compliment to you both, just in case you couldn't tell!)
